STAR International Organization information: Conceived in 1995 and founded in 1996, STAR Touring and Riding Association is an international family riding organization. As the "Official Riding Organization of Star Motorcycles.," STAR is a non-political, non-confrontational association. Its main focus is on family, fun, camaraderie and RIDING. All brands of motorcycles are welcome. STAR Touring and Riding Assoc. Local Merced Chapter 212 information: Since 2001, our focus has always been on a friendly atmosphere, helping our local community, honoring our Veterans, and safe riding. Our main activities include a Chapter meeting and ride on the second Saturday each month, our annual Veterans Memorial/Support the Troops event, local Veterans Day and Christmas Parades, and our annual Christmas Party. In addition to these events, Chapter members often ride together to various locations and events all over the state, and beyond. Our emphasis is always on fun and safe riding. Every member of your family is welcomed and encouraged to participate, and we occasionally hold events targeted at our kids and teens so they don't feel left out. This is a family organization, and we are always looking for friendly people to join us.
What is Star Touring and Riding (STAR)?
Comprising over 65,000 members and over 285 chapters, STAR recognizes safety as a first priority. The STAR community is a mix of riders with varied riding experiences. Chapter rides follow the highway laws and limits, to keep everyone as safe as possible. This allows everyone to enjoy the ride and not have new riders feel overly stressed.
STAR chapter rides do not include "tavern runs", and consumption of alcoholic beverages on chapter rides is prohibited. We want to see you back safely for the next ride.

STAR 212 ancient history:
Our Chapter was officially founded on December 13th, 2001 by Vern Warnke. Vern was a Sergeant in the Merced County Sheriffs Dept. and is known to have conducted Chapter meetings while in full uniform!
A quote from Vern on why he formed our Chapter:
"I started riding with the Charter members when I worked at Merced Power Sports. These folks came in and we would talk about doing rides. These rides started out as Poker Rides and fundraisers for local charities. The more we rode, the better friends we became. As far as why I chose "STAR Touring"....Well, I was very acquainted with the STAR organization through Yamaha, and I also beleive that Yamaha is one of the best motorcycles ever built. Another "selling factor" was the fact that any motorcycle is welcome".
